There's no doubt that a true standalone like the Haltech is worlds ahead of anything a stock ECU (ie Nistune) can do, especially when you're really pushing the car hard for the safety features. But of course, not everyone can afford to go that deep into it, and you can still get a lot of power out of something like Nistune, so it just depends how crazy you want to go with the car. I don't think there's a "one size fits all" product. Nistune is not necessarily going to be powerful enough for someone doing a high HP build where safety is of the utmost importance, and something like Haltech is often out of the pricerange of people who just need something basic. Most importantly, we're lucky to have so many options for these cars, and the way standalones are progressing, it isn't likely to slow down any time soon :)
